The Guide for a Stress-Free Work Life
Hey, busy girl! We see you. Setting those goals towards independence and financial freedom and working daily on them. Juggling a nine-to-five with a side business that’s even more demanding. Meeting deadlines. Working extra hours for that long-deserved promotion.
In the midst of all this busyness, you’ve somehow forgotten how to prioritise your wellbeing first. We see you suffering from a burn out, that’s a result of chronic workplace stress that hasn’t been properly managed.
At Reine Africaine, we believe your goals are important and you should work towards achieving them. At the same time, prioritising wellness should be of utmost importance. When you consider the long term effects of stress (depression, stroke, cardiovascular disease, obesity, skin and hair problems), then you’d realise how vital stress management is to your overall well being.
No matter how much you love what you do, you cannot deny the fact that stress kicks in once in a while and, if it is not well managed, may last for a very long time until it gets ingrained in you.
Although experiencing work strain is unavoidable, effectively managing it and keeping it to the barest minimum is. Here are a few tips to help you stay on top of your game while minimising stress.
1. Take time to breathe
Whenever you feel overwhelmed and anxious at work, take a break. Yes, we know you've got to meet the deadlines, and you cannot afford to take a break. still do so, even if it’s just for a few minutes.
You could listen to music or an interesting podcast or have a quick call with your best friend. When on a break, avoid thinking about work or going through work-related emails. Enjoy the time off by doing things that would significantly boost your mood.
2. Let go of perfectionism
We know you’ve got high standards, and we know that helps you stand out and shine. Unfortunately, this could sometimes be the cause of burnout.
Try to keep your high standards in check by focusing on what really matters: genuine effort. It doesn’t have to be perfect; give room for mistakes and improvement.
3.Develop your organisational skills
Sometimes, the only reason you feel overwhelmed is due to poor organisational skills, such as time management, strategic planning, and maintaining focus.
Create attainable work goals at the beginning of the week and arrange them in order of priority. You can also set a timeline for each task and beat procrastination. Several organisational tools and apps on the web, such as Google Workspace, can also be immensely helpful.
