Beauty beefers, beauty haters, or beauty timid individuals didn’t develop their phobia or disgust for makeup within the twinkle of an eye; most of them had a negative or horrible first-time experience with makeup, either an unnecessary step that caused them harm or that necessary step that ruined the entire look. The first time left an unforgettable mark that gave them the impression that makeup is not for them. But truthfully, makeup is for everyone; it looks good on everyone and improves your look.

There are some makeup steps that, if skipped, negate the goal of achieving a flawless look, and these steps are critical to achieving the celebrity makeup we all desire and fantasize about.

Makeup steps you shouldn’t skip

Applying makeup requires maximum attention and adequate time, you may try to eliminate some steps due to limited time. These steps include:

  1. Skin preparation

The first and most essential procedure when applying makeup is to first prepare your skin for all the beauty and attention it will receive from the variety of products. This process is crucial because it determines what happens to you after removing makeup and, in some cases, how long the makeup will last. This involves

    • Cleansing:  This is the first and most important step required before applying any makeup to your skin. It is important because it eliminates a reasonable extent of pollutants, oils, and dirt.
  • Toning
  • The goal of a toner is to gently rejuvenate the skin while preserving its natural moisture. Toners do not dry out or irritate skin that is already sensitive. It reduces the visibility of red, swollen, or larger pores that may have developed as a result of improper makeup removal. There are two kinds of toners: moisturizing and exfoliating toners.

  • Moisturizing
  •  No matter what type of skin you have, moisturizing should come before the actual makeup. Use a moisturizer to keep your foundation and other base products flawlessly on top of your skin. It's important to moisturize even if your skin is oily.

  • Use a primer
  •  There are different types of primers; they differ in usefulness and quality. Makeup primers can help you provide a smooth foundation for applying makeup and can also help your makeup last longer. It's crucial to pick a primer that is suitable for your skin type and requirements.

    1. Use of Colour corrector

Colour correctors are cosmetics or skincare items that you can use to cover up blemishes like sunspots or dark circles beneath your eyes. The advantage of colour correctors is that they have the colour opposite to the blemish. Concealer and colour corrector differ primarily in that concealer is available in a variety of colours to match your skin tone while colour corrector is available in colours of yellow, orange, and green (Whilst this step is important, it is the only step that you can get away with skipping).

    1. Use of foundation

For a smoother finish and a healthy glow, the foundation conceals skin imperfections. Your skin tone will be better, and you'll have an even complexion after using one with natural coverage.

    1. Use of concealers

Concealers make your eyes appear brighter; since not everyone gets eight hours of sleep, they give you the impression of being awake even when you are not.

    1. Use of Powders

Powders make your skin look smooth and uniform, give your makeup a glowing finish, conceal pores, and keep your makeup from looking oily. In hot and humid weather, they help the foundation last longer and stop makeup from smearing.

    1. Use of setting spray

Setting spray makes your makeup last longer by locking in the products. Setting spray is typically the final step in applying makeup. Setting spray reduces the headache of reapplying any of your products during the long period a particular event is scheduled to last. Setting sprays can help to keep your makeup looking fresh while also mattifying shine or giving you a princess radiance.

You shouldn't develop a makeup phobia due to lack of understanding of procedures. All makeup procedures are important, but the ones listed above are the ones that, if skipped, can ruin the intended goal of makeup.  At Reine Africaine, we advise that  you  follow all the procedures.
