Visiting a spa without getting a facial treatment is like visiting a nice restaurant without eating the chef's special. You'd definitely be missing out on a whole lot. Facial treatments are known to generally improve the skin tone, texture and appearance. It helps renew skin cells by circulating blood flow under the skin, leading to healthier, younger looking skin. The procedure is usually performed by an esthetician at a spa.

At Reine Africaine, your skin health is our concern, which is why we've curated a list of five facial treatments you should consider getting on your next visit to the spa.

     1. Microdermabrasion

This is a minimally abrasive procedure used to gently exfoliate the skin, renewing overall skin tone and texture. It removes dead skin cells and impurities, thus increasing cell turnover and promoting elastin and collagen production. It improves the appearance of acne scarring, melasma, and other skin related conditions.

     2. Chemical Peels

This is also known as chemexfoliation or derma peeling. It involves the application of a chemical solution to the skin in a controlled manner causing trauma or injury to the skin layer. The skin layer eventually peels off to reveal smoother skin. It is used to treat wrinkles, discolored skin and scars.

     3. HydraFacial

This involves the use of a patented device to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin while simultaneously delivering hydrating serum to the skin.  It is reviewed to be one of the most powerful, non-invasive skin resurfacing treatments.

     4. Enzyme Facial

Enzymes dissolve the bonds between dead surface skin cells. It utilizes a blend of fruit extracts, harnessing the powerful antioxidants present in fruit and floral enzymes. These extracts contribute gentle, organic acids to gently stimulate and even out your skin tone.

     5. LED Light Therapy Facial

This is a non-invasive procedure, there is no use of tools that break the skin or physically enter the body. This procedure involves exposure of your skin to light energy, which is then absorbed into the surface at various depths to stimulate reactions within the skin. This promotes cellular growth and repair. It is used to treat existing breakouts while preventing new ones from forming.

At Reine Africaine, we'd recommend getting a facial once every month for glowing, younger looking, healthy skin.  Although facial treatments can be pricey, we do believe its benefits outweigh the cost.

Do let us know which facial treatment you've gotten and its effect on your skin health. Was it worth your money or was it all hype?
